The outdated immigration system is collapsing in front of our eyes.
As senator I will be front and center on this issue. I know what devastating impacts an open and uncontrolled border has on poor and working-class communities.
Here are the steps I will take:
Enhance border security by increasing funding for Customs and Border Patrol personnel, equipment and border barriers.
Triple the number asylum judges, to eliminate the backlog.
Simplify the process for legal immigrants qualified to fill critical business and national security shortages, such as medical and health practitioners.
Prioritize immigrants with higher levels of English proficiency and American business sponsorship.
Eliminate the Diversity Visa Program
